MIKE CALDWELL
FOUNDER AND FATHER
Mike Caldwell found his passion for hunting at a young age with his father Trevor Caldwell. Living in the Eastern Transvaal, now known as Mpumalanga, hunting birds and small antelope fueled his desire for hunting.
When Mike came of age he purchased his first rifle which would lead him to expanding his ever growing passion for the hunt. This led to him pursuing the larger plains game across Southern Africa.
In 1993 Mike realized he wanted to share the experiences that he had gained through many years of hunting with others who had a similar passion and respect for the hunt. He then went on to become a qualified Professional hunter and Hunting Outfitter. Caldwell Safaris was born.
Mike expanded his hunting experiences to Mozambique and Northern Zimbabwe. He was now in pursuit of the majestic "BIG 5". After many years of successfully hunting the "BIG 5" he became well known and respected as a "BIG 5" Outfitter.
Mike has been a husband to Roz Caldwell for the last 32 years. They share the same respect and love for wildlife. Mike and Roz went on to raise their 2 sons, Jayden and Tristen and their daughter Tannah, with the same values they hold for the African wilderness. Always emphasizing the importance of respecting and protecting it.

THE LEGACY CONTINUES
Meet the future of Caldwell Safaris led by
Jayden Caldwell.
A mother's tale : From the moment we found out we were having a boy, Jayden's destiny to become a hunter like his father was sealed. From when he could walk he accompanied his dad on hunts...normally landing up on his dad's shoulders, with a birds-eye-view.
Jayden was allowed to shoot his first animal when he was 10 years old. This was a very special and important occasion for the whole family. Our family has always believed in ethical hunting and before any of our children were allowed to shoot an animal they understood this concept in depth.
Jayden, I am proud to say, has never forgotten our values when he guides hunts. His understanding of hunting allows him to be calm and compassionate. He strives to ensure the clients have the best experience he can provide, understanding what it means to our clients.
Without fail, at the conclusion of a safari, Jayden is complimented by the clients. Many keep in contact with him on a personal level.
Both his dad and I have absolute faith in Jayden continuing the Caldwell Safari legacy, and even taking it to new heights.

JAYDEN CALDWELL
LIKE FATHER LIKE SON
I was incredibly fortunate to be raised in the African bushveld, often joining my father on hunts. A particular hunt my father spoke of, when I was two years of age, where he was hunting for meat for the family, whilst carrying me on his shoulders: After two successful Impala Rams claimed, he came across a big Red Hartebeest Bull. After stalking the bull for roughly 20 minutes, he finally acquired a shot and just at that moment, I spotted the Red Hartebeest Bull. I felt I had to inform my father, at the top of my voice. Needless to say, the bull was never seen again.
Being raised with such an experienced hunting-father, shaped me through my hunting career, where I too sought the thrill and challenge of the hunt. At the age of sixteen, I became an apprentice PH under my father’s guidance. This helped me further my knowledge and respect for the hunt, until I was able to become a full-fledged Professional Hunter.
My father taught me not just the how to be an effective PH, but to be an ethical hunter. Under my father’s guidance I have adopted the mantra, “hunt fair and with respect”.
I am truly grateful to my father for all the opportunities he has provided and all he has taught me over the years, not just as a Professional hunter and Outfitter but as a man.
I hope I make him proud and can rise to his legacy in the hunting world!
